On 13 August 2004, the hearing was going on as usual in the district court of Nagpur city in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, an incident takes place in the crowded court which everyone was shocked to see. The case was the murder of notorious serial rapist and killer Akku Yadav in full court. The murder was committed by its female victims.
Akku Yadav, lodged in Nagpur Jail, came under police protection to appear in the court, the police locked up Akku Yadav in the court barracks. Two policemen were standing guard outside the barracks. Suddenly a crowd of 200-300 people entered the court.
The enraged mob threw Akku Yadav out of the court barracks and the enraged mob got together and beat up Akku Yadav in the court room itself. Akku Yadav was sentenced to death by an angry mob on the day the judge in the court was to pronounce on his bail.
Thus Akku Yadav became a notorious criminal
Bharat Kalicharan alias Akku Yadav was born in a slum called Kasturba Nagar in Nagpur. His two brothers were Santosh Yadav and Yuvraj Yadav. The three brothers Akku, Santosh and Yuvraj were of criminal nature. In the 1980s, Akku Yadav and his family lived in the slums of Kasturba Nagar and engaged in petty crime. Two gangs of criminals were then active in Kasturba Nagar slums. Akku Yadav was associated with a gang.
Both gangs wanted to dominate the entire colony. For this reason, there was a face-to-face clash between the two gangs. By 1990, Akku Yadav had become a big gangster. According to reports published in the media, there are around 26 cases of gang rape against Akku Yadav. Cases of murder, robbery, threats and illegal extortion were reported. Akku Yadav was arrested by the police for the first time in 1999.
The horror story of Akku Yadav
Akku Yadav left no stone unturned to harass the poor families living in the slums of Nagpur. Akku Yadav used to extort money from people living in the colony and kidnap them for money. He used to rape women and girls. Police also did not take any strict action against Akku Yadav due to showing favoritism to the police.
According to media reports, Akku Yadav raped more than 40 women. While committing the crime, Akku Yadav turned into a ferocious beast and started brutally attacking women of all ages. His victims range from 10-year-old girls to 70-year-old women.
Akku Yadav’s pattern of crime
Whenever Akku Yadav came out in Kasturba Nagar Colony, the women of the colony would hide inside the house with their children because of his fear. During this time, any woman or girl Akku Yadav would see, he would pick her up and take her to his hideout and torture her until he was satisfied. Once he is satisfied, he will give the woman a very gruesome death.
The administration made Akku Yadav the district commander in 2004
The atmosphere began to heat up against Akku Yadav, an uncontrollable brute, with complaints of his crimes reaching the top brass of the police and administration. Due to the deteriorating image of the police in the state, in 2004, the administration cracked down on Akku Yadav and booked him before the District Magistrate, but due to corrupt policemen, he remained in hiding in a colony in Kasturba Nagar. Fear of Akku Yadav kept the men living there silent but the women of the colony began to rage against him.
One day a woman named Usha Narayan living in the colony raised her voice against Akku Yadav, which affected other women living in the colony as well. When the people in the colony got angry, Akku Yadav ran away with his entire gang. Meanwhile, an angry mob set fire to his house. Akku Yadav finally surrendered before the police. When Akku Yadav appeared in court on August 13, 2004, the women of the colony came to know about it and reached the court before the hearing began.
As Akku Yadav came in front of women. First, all the women threw chilli powder in the eyes of the policemen and Akku Yadav. Without giving Akku Yadav a chance to recover, they attacked him with sharp weapons until he died. Finally, Akku Yadav also met the fate of his crimes. The police registered a case against 400 women for the murder of the brutal Akku Yadav and after a few days of court proceedings, all the women were acquitted.
