A promise of Rs 8500 reached the High Court, seeking disqualification of Congress MPs

In the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress Rs. 8500’s promise ‘knock…knock…knock’ was much talked about. Now this matter has reached Allahabad High Court. A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the court. It has demanded disqualification of 99 Congress MPs, confiscation of party’s election symbol and suspension of registration.

The PIL has been filed by social activist Bharti Singh, advocate OP Singh and Shashwat Anand. It is likely to be heard next week. The petition said that during the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party promised to deposit Rs 8,500 per month in the bank accounts of the poor, backward, Dalits and minorities from the month of July after the election under the guarantee card scheme, which was reneged on. is a false promise.

People believed that if they voted they would get money.

The petition said that through this promise, money was guaranteed every month to those who voted for allied parties, including the Congress. They were lured with money in exchange for votes. This promise letter of Congress party is signed by president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. There is also an acknowledgment receipt. This made people believe that they will get money for voting.

The commission did not take any action

The petition has further stated that the Election Commission had also issued an advisory in this regard on May 2. But, the Congress party has not implemented it. The petitioner contends that this act of the Congress Party is a clear violation of Section 121 (1) (A) of the Representation of the People Act.

Also, it is an offense punishable under Indian Penal Code and Indian Penal Code. The petitioner has submitted to the Election Commission for action. But, the Commission did not take any action. After this this PIL has been filed.
