security forces
The geography of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has completely changed in the last few months. Till 2017, Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag were part of Uttar Pir Panjal. He was considered a stronghold of terror. But after Operation Clean by the Indian Army and security agencies, areas like Dakshin Pir Panjal like Kathua, Reasi and Doda have become new hotbeds of terrorism. This is the reason why there has been an increase in terrorist incidents in these areas in the last few months.
In fact, after 2017, the NIA opened a strong front against terrorists and those who harbor them, to break the network in North Pir Panjal. The NIA conducted several raids in the area, breaking the belt of terror in North Pir Panjal. Not only this, after the year 2019, the grip of the army in Kashmir was also strengthened. After which it became very difficult for the terrorists to work in the valley. This is the reason why now they are trying to turn the south of Pir Panjal into a stronghold of terrorism. But the question is why did the terrorists shift from North Pir Panjal to South Pir Panjal?
A safe point for terrorists to hide out
To know the answer to this question it is very important to understand the geographical conditions of South Pir Panjal. In fact, this area is adjacent to river Chenab, there are many tributaries of Chenab. It is surrounded by dense forest and natural caves. In such a situation it is difficult for the security forces to comb here. This is the reason why the geographical position of South Pir Panjal makes this area a safe hideout for terrorists.
20 to 25 terrorists are present in this area
There are still reports of the presence of 20 to 25 terrorists in the area, who are being monitored from the sky to track them down. According to the intelligence report, all these terrorists are from Pokhran who have reached here by infiltrating from the Punjab border. If sources are to be believed, Pakistan has activated new terrorist launch pads near Jammu region i.e. near Poonch, Kathua, Sambha and Rajouri. Rajouri and Poonch are also being infiltrated from Uri sector.
Ground workers are helping terrorists
Not only this, terrorists are also being sent through tunnels in Sambha and Kathua. Ground workers are helping these terrorists to work in this dense forest. Information ranging from the target to the secret hiding place in the forest is being provided by these OGWs.
