Senior party leader Shadi Lal Pandit died in a road accident on Thursday evening while returning from an event in Jammu by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Officials said Pandit Jagati was on his way to a migrant township when the accident took place near Sidhra. Meanwhile, a truck crushed him. Pandit, the vice-president of the Kashmiri Migrant Cell, was a senior Congress leader and raised the issue of Kashmiri migrants.

Review of Assembly Election Preparations
Let us tell you that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are on a trip to Jammu and Kashmir to monitor the preparations for the assembly elections. Elections to 90 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. Counting of votes will be conducted on October 4. Assembly elections are going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in 2019 after the abrogation of most of the provisions of Article 370.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi said that restoring the full statehood of Jammu and Kashmir is the priority of the Congress and the opposition alliance in India. The former Congress president also said that his party’s aim is to get back their democratic rights to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
