A case of triple talaq and dowry harassment has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur. A young man living here in London gave triple talaq to his wife after 9 months of marriage. Hearing the words of divorce from the husband, the wife started crying. She went straight to the police station and told the police about her husband’s act. Police have registered a case under serious sections and started investigation.
The case is from Chamanganj area. Gulnaz, who lives here, got married to Asif Jamal, a resident of Ballia, 9 months ago. Father married Gulnaz with high expectations. About 25 to 30 lakh rupees were spent on the wedding as well. But he didn’t know what his son-in-law and his family were going to do with his daughter next. Within a few days of the marriage, Gulnaz started getting all kinds of talk and harassment.
It is alleged that her husband and in-laws demanded dowry from Gulnaz every day. He was beaten for dowry. Local people also started getting information about this fight. Asif did not want people to taunt him or his family for this. So he took Gulnaz with him to London. But the feud did not end there either, after which Asif sent Gulnaz from London to Kanpur. After coming to Kanpur, Gulnaz thought it better to go to her in-laws, but there again they started beating her and she came to her parents’ house in Kanpur on 27 August.
