On April 14, there was firing at Salman Khan’s house. One of the accused arrested in the case died in police custody, following which the accused’s mother filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking a CBI probe, in which Salman Khan was also made a defendant. But now there is relief news for Salman from the Bombay High Court. On Monday, the court ordered the removal of Salman Khan’s name from the petition.
A division bench of Justices Revathi Mohite-Dere and Shyam Chandak ordered petitioner Rita Devi to remove Salman Khan’s name from the petition. Rita Devi is the mother of Anuj Thapan, the accused in this case. Anuj’s body was found on May 1 in the toilet of the Crime Branch police lockup.
The firing took place on April 14
On April 14 this year, two people on a motorcycle came to Salman Khan’s house Galaxy and fled after firing several rounds. Later, the firing accused Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal were arrested by the police from Gujarat.
While investigating the case, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Anuj Thapan and another from Punjab on April 26. Both of them were accused of supplying weapons to the accused who shot at Salman Khan’s house.
The police and the family have different claims
Anuj Thapan’s custodial death case was filed by police and family separately. The crime branch claims that Anuj Thapan took his own life. At the same time, Anuj’s mother Rita Devi claimed in a petition filed in the High Court on May 3 that her son was murdered. He has also accused his son of assault and torture. Through the petition, he has demanded from the court that the entire matter be investigated by the CBI.
