The government has taken a big decision regarding ESI. Now approval has been given to bring together Ayushman Bharat PM-Jan Arogya Yojana with ESI. The Employees State Insurance Corporation Medical Benefits Board on Friday approved the integration of the Employees State Insurance (ESI) scheme with the Prime Minister’s Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana (JAY) to increase access to medical care for beneficiaries. The Ministry of Labor reported in a statement that the decision to integrate the two schemes was made at the 86th meeting of the Medical Benefits Council held at the headquarters of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). The meeting was chaired by Director General (DG) of ESIC, Ashok Kumar Singh.

12 million families receive benefits

Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY is the world’s largest health insurance plan. It aims to provide health insurance of Rs 5 lakh per year to over 12 million poor families (around 55 million beneficiaries). The Council also approved the implementation of the Common Support Mission (MCS) to the states. The objective of CSM is to improve and strengthen the ESI medical service delivery system in the states with a person-centered approach.

Approval to start awareness camp

In addition, the Council approved the start of annual preventive health checks and awareness camps for beneficiaries, with special attention to the early diagnosis of lifestyle disorders and the detection of nutritional deficiencies in insured people, women and transgender people. Recently, under Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, it was announced that insurance cover would be provided to people above 70 years of age. The government’s objective is to bring more and more inhabitants of the country closer to the field of insurance. According to the information of Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, a total of 29,648 hospitals, including 12,696 private hospitals, have been linked to this scheme.
