Samajwadi Party MLA Zahid Baig surrendered in Bhadohi CJM court. He was accused of making children work. The body of a minor girl was found in her house. Zahid Baig is accused of forcing the girl to work as a helper in his house against her will, after which the girl committed suicide due to her circumstances.

Arrest of son

In the same case, his son Jam Baig was arrested on Wednesday on charges of inciting the girl to commit suicide, but till then MLA Zahid Baig and his wife did not reach the police and have now surrendered. He surrendered in Bhadohi CJM court. On September 9, the body of a minor was found in the MLA’s house in Malikana town of Bhadohi police station area.

The girl lived for many years

In this matter, the police said that the girl was working as a helper at the MLA’s house and had been living there for many years. She was found hanging in an upstairs room of the house. The post mortem report revealed that the girl had strangulated. Superintendent of Police Meenakshi Katyayan said that the MLA’s son Jem Baig was arrested after finding evidence against him.

Suicide on the night of September 8

Along with this, the police also said that their investigation revealed that MLA Zahid Baig and his wife Seema Baig forced the 17-year-old girl to work against her will. Fed up with her circumstances, the girl committed suicide on the night of September 8, he said. A police case under Section 108 of the BNS was already registered against the MLA and his wife and further legal action was underway. During their investigation, it was found that another 15-year-old girl was working as a helper at the MLA’s house for the past two years.

I was tired from work

A joint team of police and district administration officials rescued them on September 10 on the directions of District Magistrate Vishal Singh, police said. He was produced before the Child Welfare Committee in Bhadohi and sent to the Government Children’s Home Prayagraj. According to the police, the minor girl released from the home said that a few days before her death, the 17-year-old girl had told them that she was fed up with household chores and wanted to run away from home.
