Demanded 6 lakh rupees from husband as maintenance

The country has a law to provide an allowance from the husband to the aggrieved Mahisa to meet the needs of good living and basic amenities during the divorce case. For this, maintenance allowance is given to the woman as per the court order, but a shocking case has come out from Karnataka regarding this law. A divorced woman demanded Rs 6 lakh maintenance from her husband. Against this demand of the wife, the husband represented his side in the High Court through his lawyer.

The wife made a list of her various expenses and demanded a total of Rs 6 lakh, on which the court also made a sharp comment. During the hearing of this case, the lady judge has said that there is no provision in Indian law to give such punishment to the husband. Can Rs 6 lakh per month really be spent on alimony? This is being done to obstruct the court process, if this is to be done the wife should spend the money she earns herself. The video of this court hearing is also going viral on social media, in which the lady judge has asked many questions in strict terms.

Why depend on your husband if you have 6 lakh rupees to spend?

The female judge of the High Court said that when the wife has no family responsibilities other than her own expenses, why is she spending 6 lakh 16 thousand 300 rupees every month. If you want to do the same, earn money yourself, why depend on your husband? The husband’s counsel argued in court that the amount fixed for maintenance should not be awarded to the husband as a punishment in any way.

6 lakh rupees should be used for what expenses?

A lawyer representing the woman said her husband had paid Rs 6 lakh per month to his client. He said that women should get maintenance. The woman stated in her list that she needs Rs 4 to 5 lakh per month for treatment of her knee pain, physiotherapy, medicines and other expenses. Apart from all this, 50 thousand rupees are spent every month for daily needs like bangles, branded clothes, slippers. 60 thousand rupees are required for a nutritious diet to take care of health. The woman prepared a list of monthly expenses totaling Rs 6,16,300 and argued in court that she should get monthly maintenance allowance for all these expenses.
