69 thousand teacher recruitment case: Supreme Court stays High Court order, next hearing on September 23

A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday on the petition filed regarding the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers in Uttar Pradesh. The Supreme Court has stayed the order of the High Court. The CJI said that the order of the High Court will remain in abeyance. The next hearing will be held on September 23. The CJI asked all parties to file written notes. We will have a final hearing on this.

The Supreme Court has asked the state government and both parties to submit written arguments. Time is needed to study the decision of the High Court. The Allahabad High Court in its decision, while canceling the selection list of June 2020 and January 2022, ordered the UP government to issue a fresh selection list of 69 thousand teachers within three months based on the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination held in 2019. .

Teachers are in danger of losing their jobs

The High Court also held that if a reserved category candidate achieves the same merit as the general category, his selection should be considered in the general category only. A large number of teachers working in UP are feared to lose their jobs due to this order of the High Court.

The Lucknow bench of the High Court gave this order

Last month, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court ordered the UP government to release a fresh merit list for recruitment within three months. The High Court admitted during the hearing that the candidates in the recruitment of 69000 teachers were not given full benefit of reservation. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared on behalf of petitioner Shivam before the CSJI bench on Monday.

Injustice in teacher recruitment: Anupriya Patel

The government is facing opposition and opposition from allies regarding the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers. Anupriya Patel, the national president of NDA’s ally Apna Dal (S), recently said that OBC candidates have been treated unfairly in teacher recruitment. Rules of reservation have been violated. Apna Dal(S)’s stand is clear. His party has been in favor of caste enumeration. A caste census should be conducted in the country.
