So far 4 wolves have been caught by the forest department.
Now not only lions, tigers and leopards but also wolves have become man-eaters. If you want to save your life from this, be careful. You never know when these wolves can attack you. This is the reason why the people of Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh guard their villages day and night. Teams have been formed in villages. Everyone’s duty is shift wise. The team is patrolling the entire village with sticks and guns, so that if a wolf is spotted, it can be rescued before it attacks.
However, many questions are being raised regarding the attack of these wolves. These wolves were terrorizing the area for two months, so why was the forest department not alerted? Wasn’t the forest department already aware of the arrival of these wolves in the area when they slowly started preying on the children? According to the villagers, these wolves have been terrorizing the area for almost two months. At first it seemed that it was the work of a tiger or a leopard, but when these wolves were seen roaming in the nearby fields, it seemed that it was wolves, not tigers or leopards, who were attacking.
A drone expert was called from Kolkata
Now when these wolves made nine people, including eight children and an old woman, their prey, the forest department team camped in the villages. Drone experts were called from Kolkata, who are tracking them with the help of drone cameras. Police and PAC have been deployed in the villages. Soldiers are properly equipped with safety equipment, so that if a wolf attacks, it can be captured immediately in the backyard. So far, the forest department team has captured four wolves. On Thursday, the big wolf that caused the most terror was also captured.
Wolves are terrorizing, ambushing 35 villages.
These wolves have terrorized around 35 villages in Hardi police station area and Khairighat police station area in Mahasi tehsil area of the district. 16 teams of the forest department are busy catching them by setting up cages at different places. Along with the forest department, the police, PAC, revenue department and the employees posted in the blocks have been put on duty in the villages. The forest department has used drones along with thermal and regular cameras to track the wolves. Along with this, around 200 villagers are protecting their respective villages with sticks.
A ‘tall’ wolf turned everyone into cannibals
Barabanki DFO Akashdeep Badwan, who has been made the nodal officer for the drive to capture wolves, said wolves are social animals. Generally they prefer to stay away from population and humans. He lives in his herd. In the Mahasi area, a lame wolf made a meal of a child, mistaking it for easy prey. Many wolves ate the flesh of that child. After a taste in the mouth, the other wolves followed suit. After this his tendencies became cannibalistic. They are looking for humans, especially children. Wolves are an animal of the dog family and their sniffing and waking habits are very sharp.
Wolf behavior is unusual – DFO
Even the officials of the forest department are not unanimous about wolf attacks. DFO Akashdeep Badhawan says that after seeing what has been seen at the site so far, it seems that the wolf’s behavior is unusual. They prey on small animals, but now they are attacking humans. This is a research topic. Also, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Wildlife Sanjay Srivastava says that this is the rainy season. Forests are flooded. Wildlife is coming out in search of food. This is the reason why even in Bahraich wolves are attacking the villages adjacent to the forests.
A 5 year old child was picked up 2 days ago
It should be known that wolves like to live in packs. Now there is no estimate of how many wolves there are in the Mahasi area, but according to villagers there are around a dozen wolves roaming the area. Out of which four wolves have been caught in the last four days. Three days ago, three of the wolf’s companions were caught together, and they became even more furious. That same night, they abducted five-year-old Ayanm while he was sleeping with his mother Roli.
The next day his dead body was found in the field with 40 to 50 percent eaten. On the same night, they attacked three children in a village in Kharighat police station area, but the lives of all three were saved due to the alertness of the villagers. 30 to 40 people have been injured so far along with 9 deaths due to wolf attack. Villagers fear that wolf companions will become more aggressive if caught. Then they will ambush them.
