How did Sunil Kumar Singh come under Nitish’s radar?

There is a couplet in their couple – you kill or wonder…, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar fitted this couplet perfectly on Rabri Devi’s brother Sunil Kumar Singh. In fact, two political actions were taken against Sunil Kumar Singh on Friday. In the first action he was stripped of the chair of Biscommon President. In another action, the Speaker of the Legislative Council revoked his membership.
This action has been taken against Sunil because of his enmity with Nitish Kumar. However, the government says that the Speaker of the Legislative Council has revoked his membership due to his misconduct. Enmity between Sunil Singh and Nitish Kumar is not new in Bihar politics. There have been three major occasions in the last 10 years when the enmity between the two has come out into the open.
First meet Rabdi’s adopted brother Sunil
Sunil Kumar is originally from Saran district. Singh holds a PhD in Chemistry. Singh is considered special of the Lalu family. He is also called the adopted brother of Rabi Devi.
According to the affidavit, 7 cases have been registered against Singh in different police stations in Bihar. Singh entered politics through cooperation. He is also the treasurer of Lalu Yadav’s party Rashtriya Janata Dal. In 2022, the Enforcement Directorate raided several places of Singh.
The recent controversy between Sunil and Nitish
The controversy began in full in 2023. Cabinet Minister Chandrasekhar in the Nitish government opened a front against the officials. At the same time, Sunil Kumar Singh made a scathing comment on Nitish Kumar. Sunil even said that Nitish uses officials to control the leaders.
On this statement of Sunil, Nitish summoned him. The special thing is that despite calling Sunil, he did not go to the Chief Minister’s residence. Meanwhile, the alliance of JDU and RJD broke up. After this, Sunil started attacking Nitish more. In a single gesture, he also called the Chief Minister mentally ill.
Sunil’s opposition continued in the Legislative Council as well. Here he copied the Chief Minister, after which the Chairman referred the whole matter to the Ethics Committee. Sunil’s membership has also been canceled on the ethics committee’s report.
Why are questions being raised on Nitish?
Membership of Sunil Singh has been canceled on the recommendation of the Ethics Committee. Former Chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur referred the matter to the Ethics Committee. Thakur is currently the JDU MP from Sitamarhi. The ethics committee is headed by Ramvachan Rai, who has recently been given the chairmanship of the Deputy Speaker in the Legislative Council.
The allegations on which Sunil Kumar Singh’s membership has been suspended are also related to Nitish Kumar. This is the reason why Sunil Singh is directly questioning Nitish Kumar in this matter. Singh says this has been done with full preparation. I was not even given an opportunity to present my side.
Now 3 old stories of enmity
1. In 2012, Sunil Singh was elected as the president of Biscoman, since then the rivalry between him and Nitish Kumar started. To prosecute Sunil Singh, Nitish deployed his loyal officers in the Department of Cooperation and Agriculture. Sunil Singh was troubled by this for several months, but after 2014, Nitish himself weakened.
Sunil Singh breathed a sigh of relief in Jitanram Manjhi’s government. After this, an alliance was formed between Nitish and Lalu, which saved Sunil from Nitish’s wrath.
2. In 2015, Sunil Kumar Singh created a stir in Bihar politics by attacking the Nitish government. Before the election, Sunil Singh had alleged that Nitish Kumar’s government was using common people’s money in elections.
Sunil’s target was towards the food section. Sunil alleged that out of Rs 300 crore allocated for diesel subsidy, Rs 250 crore has been misappropriated. This allegation was made 2 months before the elections. However, Sunil was saved when Lalu Yadav intervened.
3. In the year 2023, at a meeting of the grand coalition parties, Sunil Singh stood up to say something against Nitish Kumar, Nitish gave Sunil’s audio and picture to Tejashwi Yadav. Nitish said that being close to his family, he was busy forging an alliance with the BJP.
Sunil called the audio and photo false, but the Chief Minister reprimanded him and made him sit down. Since then, the enmity between Sunil and Nitish was gradually burning more and more.
