2 girls, a sweeper and a rape… How did Akshay pull off this incident in school itself?
The case of two girls being sexually abused in a reputed private school in Badlapur, Thane, Maharashtra, shocked people. Now another big news has come out in this case, Akshay Shinde, the main accused in this case has died. The accused suddenly opened fire on the police, after which he was shot in the retaliatory fire. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but died during treatment. After the case came to light, people were furious, expecting immediate justice. It was a case where people were not only angered by words, but people turned to railway stations and roads to protest and take immediate action against the accused.
Naturally, this is a place where parents send their children thinking that they will be safe here, but when such cruelty towards girls came to light even in the Shikshan Mandir, people’s blood boiled. Not only did they show their anger by posting on social media, but the entire Badlapur local descended on the railway station and demanded punishment for the culprits. Who does not remember the pictures of that day when the entire city sat on the tracks of Badlapur station. What was the matter?
On August 13, 2024, a case of sexual harassment of two nursery girls in a school in Badlapur came to light. What was even scarier in this case was that the culprit who carried out the incident was a school cleaner. He subjected the girls to his dirty intentions in the school washroom itself. When a girl tearfully told her parents about the heinous incident that happened to her on August 16, the ground slipped from under their feet. Accused Akshay was arrested on August 17. A case was registered against him under several sections including POCSO.
‘Grandfather took off my clothes’
There was another thing in this case that made the parents think. Actually the matter came to light when one day suddenly the girl refused to go to school. When the parents asked the reason several times, the girl said that when she went to use the toilet in the school, the accused, who was cleaning there, touched her private parts. “Dada (Marathi word for brother) removed my clothes and touched my private parts,” the girl allegedly told her parents. The girl was so frightened that she could not fully explain to her parents what had happened to her. After this the girl said that this happened not only to her but also to her friend. Hearing this, the parents of the girl without wasting time called the parents of the other girl and told the whole thing. Hearing this, the parents of the second girl were also shocked, then when they asked their innocent daughter, she also told the reason for not going to school. It is shocking in itself that the girls are so young that they don’t even know what has been done to them. As soon as the incident was reported, the parents of the two girls first went to the doctor.
When the doctor examined the girls, they too got goosebumps. These innocent children studying in the nursery class were made victims of brutality. Both were sexually assaulted. Without wasting time, the parents immediately went to the police station, but their complaint was not heard properly. The girl’s parents alleged that it took the police 12 hours to register their complaint at the police station. However, after this an FIR was registered and a police investigation revealed that there was gross negligence in the safety of the children in the school as well.
The whole city came on the road
The school administration, which considers itself one of the most prestigious schools, paid no attention to the fact that the CCTV cameras installed in their school with world-class facilities were completely faulty, which miscreants like Akshay took advantage of. When parents raised questions, the school administration immediately woke up and suspended the principal, class teacher and a lady employee in the matter. Naturally, the anger of the parents did not subside here. The case came to light on social media and after that the entire country saw a city take to the streets to demand justice for the girls. The entire city left all their work and sat on the tracks of Badlapur railway station to express their protest and one voice said that we will not agitate until the girls get justice. People came on the road.
An enraged mob ransacked the school
A crowd of thousands descended on the railway tracks after the incident of sexual harassment came to light, after which stone pelting began. On August 20, a mob first vandalized a school and then demonstrated at Badlapur station from 8 am to 6 pm, pictures and videos of which also went viral on social media. Movement of local trains was affected for more than 10 hours as people descended on the railway tracks. Seeing such anger, minister Girish Mahajan himself came to the railway station. He urged the agitators to end the agitation. Girish Mahajan appealed that the accused should be punished severely, but the protestors did not budge. After this, the police eventually had to lathicharge the demonstrators, after which the crowd dispersed. Maha Vikas Aghadi also supported the protest and called Maharashtra Bandh on 24 August and soon the fire spread across the city. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered the Thane police commissioner to immediately suspend three employees, including the senior inspector of Badlapur police station, who delayed action in the matter. The situation became such that the internet facility had to be shut down in the area.
Akshay was killed in a police encounter
Taking immediate notice of the matter, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde discussed the entire matter with the state’s Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar and ordered immediate action. CM Eknath Shinde has also ordered to take concrete steps to prevent such cases in future and try this case in fast track court. The Chief Minister said that if the school management is at fault, action will be taken against them as well. Almost a month passed in the case and today the news broke that Akshay, accused of torturing innocent people, was killed in a police encounter. Today, somewhere, everyone who has faith in the system is convinced that justice is served sooner rather than later. The incident which was perpetrated by a coward like Akshay, somewhere he got his punishment and finally the girls got justice.
