Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
Shocking news has come out from Delhi’s Tihar Jail. 125 inmates have been found HIV positive here. Tihar Jail in Delhi has three Jails namely Tihar, Rohini and Mandoli. It is in these prisons that infected inmates have been found. HIV positive prisoners are not new, they are already suffering from AIDS. Syphilis has been found in 200 prisoners. Due to which the jail administration was in turmoil.
According to the information, about 10 thousand 500 prisoners have been medically examined in Tihar. The jail has approximately 14,000 inmates. Tihar Jail conducts medical examination of inmates from time to time. Recently, after new DG Satish Golcha took charge of Tihar Jail, medical checkup of ten and a half thousand inmates was done in May and June.

10 thousand 500 prisoners were tested for HIV, out of which 125 prisoners were found to be HIV positive. That means 125 prisoners were found to have AIDS. However, it is noteworthy that these prisoners are not recently suffering from AIDS. In fact, at different times and when these inmates came to the jail from outside, they were medically tested and even then they were HIV positive.
Before coming to the jail, the prisoners are given a medical checkup. Since then he was a victim of AIDS. Now again when multiple inmates were tested, only these 125 inmates were found to be victims of AIDS. Apart from this, out of ten and a half thousand prisoners, 200 prisoners were found to be suffering from syphilis.
No case of TB is positive
Not a single case of TB has been found positive in the examination of the prisoners. Protective Survey Department of Tihar Jail conducted cervical cancer test for women inmates in collaboration with AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital. This test is done because women are more likely to develop cervical cancer.
This test is done as a precaution so that if someone tests positive for cervical cancer, they can be treated early. It is not that the cancer is known as soon as this test comes positive. Once it is known that there is a possibility of cervical cancer, then timely test can be done and treatment can be done.
