In Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, a young man cut off the ear of a girl sitting at a shop when she asked for money for cigarettes. The court has given its verdict in this case which happened in the year 2021. While delivering its verdict, the court of ADJ-26 sentenced the accused to 10 years imprisonment and also fined Rs 17,700. The wife and mother of the accused have been honorably acquitted after being proved innocent.

After the court’s decision, the accused expressed remorse over the incident. Lawyers for the accused have called it a good decision and said it will send a better message to the society. He says that youths who are getting angry over small things will learn from the verdict of this case. In this case, in August 2021, the girl’s mother lodged a report against the accused and his family members at the Chakeri police station under other sections including attempt to murder.

The victim girl’s mother Somwati, who lives in Sanjay Nagar under Chakeri Police Station area of ​​Kanpur, said that she has a small paan shop in front of the house. On 26 August 2021 at 9 pm, his 15-year-old daughter was sitting in the shop. Then Raju alias Mehboob Khan who lived in his neighborhood came to the shop and asked for cigarettes. When the accused lit a cigarette, his daughter demanded money. When Raju asked for the money for cigarettes, he said that he would give the money later.

When the dispute escalated, Raju brought a sickle from home and attacked his daughter, which touched her head and hit her ear. His left ear was amputated due to the attack. During the attack, Raju’s mother Hasina and wife Shahnaz also pelted stones at his shop. As people gathered, the accused fled from the spot. The victim, Somwati, filed a complaint against the accused at the Chakeri police station under other sections including attempt to murder. The case was pending in ADJ-26 Pramod Kumar’s court.
